2024 Annual Meeting October 28

Annual Meeting, Election of Officers and Luncheon

Fort Wayne artist Nicole DeCamp, who designs fabric for Benartex, and our own Nancy DiNovo, who selects and develops patterns for sewing and quilting samples for Nicole’s collections, will present a trunk show and talk at our Annual Meeting. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at UAW Local 2209 Union Hall, 5820 East 900 North, Roanoke (near the GM Plant). Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 21.

Nicole started as an artist at the age of 5, when her father sat her in a chair at their family-owned restaurant and allowed her to sell her work to the customers for 10 cents. Her elementary school friends would also pay her a small fee to draw pictures for them while on the playground during recess. It was during that time that Nicole knew what she wanted to do with her life: make her living by creating art and have her own business.

Today through her design company, ND Art and Design, she has licensed her art on gift and home décor products that can be found in retail stores across North America. For her work at Benartex – a leading maker of quality cotton quilting fabrics – Nicole needed an equally gifted seamstress. During their presentation, you’ll hear the story of how Nicole and Nancy came to be the dynamic team they are today. And Nancy will talk about her sewing process. You’ll also get to see lots of samples showing how the projects Nancy selects and sews showcase Nicole’s fabric collections.

Also at the event we will have:

· Neighborhood Group Display Tables – See what members have been sewing this year and get inspired!

· Business Meeting & Election of Officers – What you need to know about our chapter!

· A look ahead: What’s new for 2025

2022 Annual Meeting  Nov. 1

Leaves, pumpkins, candy corn—and our chapter’s Annual Meeting. It’s a rite of the season, too and it was once again a fun-filled celebration of our love of  sewing. Held on Nov. 1 at the Aboite Community Room in Fort Wayne, the event began with our yearly election of officers. Congratulations and loads of thanks go to our elected officers for 2023.

Always a highlight—our neighborhood groups table displays and presentations inspired us all. Check them out below And, we had an up close view of beautiful quilts from February’s Virtual Mystery Quilt Event. Check them out below—way to go friends! Thanks to Lisa for this year’s variation on the Carpenter’s Star and to Marilyn and Lisa for preparing the hour-by-hour videos that ‘attendees’ used to build their quilts. What a great help! Many of our members, as well as our friends from the North Central Chapter participated in this annual event. Find detailed directions to make this quilt by clicking here.
