Winter Warm-Up Community Service Sew-In
On January 27th. 2008, we held our bi-annual Community Service Sew-In. This time we chose 2 projects to focus on. First, we focused on our usual "Winter Warm Up" project. We sewed fleece hats, gloves and mittens sets to supply to local agencies that serve the underprivileged. Although, we provided items mainly for children, we did supply some adult items as well. Please read the wonderful "Thank You" note we received from the St. Joe Township Trustee that expressed how important it is to give back to the community. This response brings a deep sense of gratitude and personal satisfaction for being a part of easing the burden for those in need. Indeed, our hearts were warmed as well!
Our second project for the day was to begin making "Anti-Ouch" pouches. The pouches were donated to our local American Cancer Society and additional pouches will be completed for donation at the ASG National Conference in July. To have labels that could be customized to honor our sisters that are dealing with or have survived breast cancer was an especially nice touch. Many thanks to ASG National for sponsoring this project, Deon Mass for the pattern and ScrapSmart for the awesome customizable label.
