November 2008 Community Service Sew-In

It is so rewarding to work together and accomplish a deed that has such a positive influence on other's lives. That richness of spirit was shared at our November Community Service Sew-In. After every service sew-in we always receive "Thank You" notes from the agencies we've helped. That appreciation reminds us just how much difference our work does make. We've already received one from the St. Joseph Township Trustee's office that we would like to share an excerpt from:

"Thank you so much for once again providing warmies" for our clients! They are all beautiful and will keep so many big and little souls warm……  It is a true gift that you choose to share yourselves with so many in our community. In these "challenging" economic times, it's even more important that we do for those who are not able to for themselves, and you all have continued to show that caring spirit that we should take a lesson from!"

In addition to the fleece winter sets for children (hat, scarf and mittens), we also started work on pillowcases for the ASG National Community Service project. For this project, Suzanne Frederick shared a sewing technique that could be used on the pillowcases, French seams. After a donation is made to the national project we will continue to make children's pillowcases for donation to local agencies. Instructions for the pillowcases can be found under PROJECTS.
